Despite living through some experiences that some might call traumatic, I have always believed that life is good. The deepest depression can be temporarily lifted by a good book, good music, a good laugh or a beautiful day. God has always been part of my life, although sometimes I didn't like him very much. But ultimately faith in God has kept me alive.
I want this journal to be a record of the things that make life worth living; what moves me, what amuses me, what I love. Maybe I'll write some of my frustrations and hurts, but that's not where I want to live. I've kept many written journals when times were tough; now I want to record the good times.
Great Music Brahams tops a long list. And Arthur Sullivan is much better than he is given credit for. Nothing raises my spirits like a rousing chorus of "I am the pirate king!"
Books: I don't read much modern literature because so much is depressing. I like murder mysteries because the good guys almost always win. I love reading biographies of great people; lately women from Cleopatra to Harriet Wilson. (Maybe she's not great, but she's interesting" Oh yes, young adult literature, there's some pretty good and entertaining stuff out there.
Nature: WHat's not to like?
God: Ok, I'm a serious Roman Catholic.
